Each of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) seven districts is supported by a full-time Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL).
LELs are experienced law enforcement professionals responsible for promoting and coordinating law enforcement participation in traffic safety campaigns; organizing enforcement operations, press conferences, and public safety events; conducting training sessions and Local Area Network (LAN) meetings; and assisting agencies with securing and managing grant funding to support traffic safety programs. They also serve on state traffic safety coalitions and Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs), manage the exchange of critical information—including officer training, crash data and trends, checkpoint planning, and legal updates—and evaluate law enforcement contributions to traffic safety initiatives, policies, education efforts, and enforcement activities.
