Jim Reiser retired from the Tampa Police Department (TPD) as a Sergeant in 2023 after more than 27 years of service, during which he served as the Motor Unit and Traffic Homicide Supervisor. He currently serves as the District 7 Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) and is an active member of Florida's Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Coalition. Additionally, he continues to contribute as a reserve motor officer, primarily supporting TPD during special events throughout the year.
As the District 7 LEL, Jim partners with and supports approximately 43 law enforcement agencies across seven West Central Florida counties in their traffic safety efforts. His responsibilities include facilitating and promoting participation in state and national traffic safety initiatives, serving on traffic safety coalitions and Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) within the district, assisting agencies in acquiring and managing grants to address traffic safety needs or expand programs, coordinating the exchange of critical information, such as officer training, crash data, safety and sobriety checkpoints, and legal updates, fostering interagency coordination, conducting training sessions and networking meetings, and implementing traffic safety mobilizations including Click It or Ticket, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, and Operation Southern Slow Down.
