Janice Martinez serves as the District 1 Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL). Janice has nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience. She began her career in 1995 with the Haines City Police Department as a dispatcher and Intoxilyzer Operator before joining the Florida Highway Patrol in 1997, where she was stationed in Troop C, Polk County. Throughout her tenure in the Tampa Bay area, she held several roles, including traffic homicide investigator, midnight shift commander, and traffic homicide supervisor. As the District 1 LEL, Janice actively serves as member of Florida's Teen Safe Driving Coalition.

As the District 1 LEL, Janice partners with and supports approximately 49 law enforcement agencies across 12 Southwest Florida counties in their traffic safety efforts. Her responsibilities include facilitating and promoting participation in state and national traffic safety initiatives, serving on traffic safety coalitions and Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) within the district, assisting agencies in acquiring and managing grants to address traffic safety needs or expand programs, coordinating the exchange of critical information, such as training opportunities, crash data, safety and sobriety checkpoints, and legal updates, fostering interagency coordination, conducting training sessions and networking meetings, and implementing traffic safety mobilizations including Click It or Ticket, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, and Operation Southern Slow Down.
