Brian Muhlbach has over 20 years of experience in Florida law enforcement, with a strong focus on traffic safety. He served in supervisory roles as a Sergeant and held various positions, including patrol, investigations, traffic/DUI enforcement, and community policing. Brian also served as a Traffic Homicide Investigator throughout the majority of his career and was recognized by MADD for six consecutive years for dedication to impaired driving enforcement and education. As an instructor for both basic recruit academy and in-service training programs, Brian has taught courses on traffic enforcement, crash investigations, de-escalation, and other specialized topics. In addition to his role as the District 3 Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL), Brian continues to serve in a part-time capacity as a deputy sheriff and instructor.
As the District 3 LEL, Brian partners with and supports approximately 55 law enforcement agencies across 16 Northwest Florida counties in their traffic safety efforts. His responsibilities include facilitating and promoting participation in state and national traffic safety initiatives, serving on traffic safety coalitions and Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) within the district, assisting agencies in acquiring and managing grants to address traffic safety needs or expand programs, coordinating the exchange of critical information, such as training opportunities, crash data, safety and sobriety checkpoints, and legal updates, fostering interagency coordination, conducting training sessions and networking meetings, and implementing traffic safety mobilizations including Click It or Ticket, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, and Operation Southern Slow Down.
