    Saved by the Belt Award

    Saved by the Belt Award

Florida's "Saved by the Belt" Award is designed to recognize individuals who survived serious traffic crashes because they were wearing their safety belts. By recognizing these survivors, the program raises awareness about the life-saving importance of safety belt use.

The award may be granted to victims of traffic crashes who were found not at fault and whose safety belt prevented death or serious injury. Nominations must include the official Florida crash report number and basic incident details.

Once approved by the FDOT Safety Office, the nominating law enforcement agency will receive a recognition certificate and a commemorative pin to publicly present to the recipient.

If you need assistance with the nomination process or have questions about this program, contact your District LEL.
