District 2 Law Enforcement Liaison

Juan Cardona has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Supports approximately 50 law enforcement agencies across 18 Northeast Florida counties.
• Promotes, coordinates, implements, and increases participation in state and national traffic safety campaigns and enforcement mobilizations.
• Organizes and supports public outreach initiatives and press events.
• Conducts Local Area Network (LAN) meetings, leads training sessions, and supports officer development.
• Provides guidance on securing and managing FDOT traffic safety grant funding.
• Facilitates the exchange of critical information, including officer training, crash data and trends, checkpoint planning, and legal updates.
• Participates in the coordination of the annual Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge.
• Evaluates agency traffic safety efforts across enforcement, education, policy, and crash reduction.
• Serves on statewide traffic safety coalitions (opens in new tab).
• Supports Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) across the district.
• Supports Child Passenger Safety (CPS)-related traffic safety initiatives.
